वि० [सं० उद्√आस् (बैठना)+अच्] १. जो किसी प्रकार की अपेक्षा या अभाव के कारण अथवा भावी अनिष्ट की आशंका से खिन्न और चिंतित हो और इसी लिए जिसका मन किसी काम या बात में न लगता हो। जैसे—नौकरी छूट जाने के कारण वह उदास रहता है। २. जिसका मन किसी काम, चीज या बात की ओर से हट गया हो। उदासीन। विरक्त। उदाहरण—तुम चाहहु पति सहज उदासा।—तुलसी। ३. जिसके मन में किसी बात के प्रति अनुराग या प्रवृत्ति न रह गई हो। तटस्थ। निरपेक्ष। उदाहरण—एक उदास भाय सुनि रहहीं।—तुलसी। ४.
